3 Steps I’m Taking to Becoming a Better Me

From the time we wake up to the time we go to bed, we’re constantly in autopilot. Lately, I’ve been feeling like there is always something that seems to take up my time and I could be doing something else. And I say “I’ve gotta do better”. After all, Self improvement is a journey. I’ve found that one of the keys is to remember that self improvement is not a destination but a consistent and progressive daily collection of the sum total of activities one engages in or chooses not to engage in. Here are 3 Steps I’m Taking to Becoming a Better Me:

Here are a few steps in taking to “be a better me”

1. Keep a To-Do List

Keeping a daily to do list using the tasks app on iPhone. I limit my to-do list to 6 daily tasks. That’s doable for me. Anything over that and I just close the list and say I’ll get to it later.

2. Express Gratitude

I am constantly showing gratitude for the people in my life who pour into me, and vice versa. I feel good when I see a persons mood brighten after experiencing even a small act of gratitude from me. So I continue to express myself and appreciate them.

  3. Mental Health

This year, I’ve been more in tuned with my mental health. I’ve got a new therapist and she’s pretty dope, dope y’all! As a result, I’m setting stronger boundaries in my personal, and professional life.  The goal is to be at peace, protect my energy and maintain healthier relationships with family, friends, and clients.

A Work In ProgressDr. Gina Charles

Anywho, I’m still a work in progress (especially when it comes to waking up early) but I find that as I take active steps to being a better me, I like myself more, and serve others more effectively. The most important  story and voice in your self improvement journey is the story you tell your self or your voice in your head. Take control of the story you tell yourself. This is self care.
